Has anybody here had their BUN checked and if so, was it normal? Mine has
been consistently high. I am not sure if it is affected by fasting or
non-fasting, but mine was 22 after fasting and 21 without fasting. The
normal range indicated by the lab is 8 to 25. Every doctor's immediate
response is that I don't drink enough water but I drink water all day long -
about 70 to 100 ounces or more. I read that BUN "is waste product derived
from protein breakdown ni the liver. Increases can be caused by excessive
protein intake, kidney damage, certain drugs (dno't take any), low fluid
intake, intestinal bleeding, exercise, heart failure or decreased digestive
enzyme production in the pancreas".

So how does that fit in with paleo, particularly teh "excessive protein
intake". I probably eat anywhere from 25 to 35 ounces a day but could easily
eat more. I didn't think that was excessive. I also wonder how they came up
with the normal ranges?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Kristina
