3000 cals isn't too much under those circumstances. Many years ago when
I was training hard, I ate four huge meals a day. As an example, my
evening meal (several hours after a big supper) I would eat two
sandwiches, an apple or two, and a large ice cream shake. The
sandwiches were designed for high cal. For example, one was cheese with
peanut butter and mayo, followed by a cheese, ham and mayo. All thick
portions. I can't even guess how many cals that was, probably about
what I eat in a whole day now.

If you are not gaining weight, I wouldn't worry about it. Just spread
the food out so you don't feel bloated.
