Dandelion Root! Natural diuretic. The one I take is by Nature's Way (525mg
capsules). I take one a day for 2-3 days til water retention resolves. I
also have my 14 year old Cairn, Mr. Jake, aka Ratty Bratty Psycho-Dawd on
dandelion root as part of his CHF treatment protocol. For the animals, I
simply took all the capsules apart and dose the powder into their food; he
gets 1/4 teaspoon twice a day. Dandelion root is also available in teabag
preparations. You might find both the capsules and the teabags at your local
health food store.
I found that taking the capsules 'as directed' on the bottle tended to
produce the 'running to the bathroom' side effect, thus my reason for
lowering the dose. I prefer the dandelion root to lasix, actually. Both
achieve the same result and the root is cheaper! :)
Cheers!
