(After a meal the tongue looks normal but if one waits until one is really
hungry, it's pale or white.)

Here's some other explanations to her condition I can think of:

(1) Too little exercise (weak heart)
(2) Too little sunlight
(3) Too little fresh air
(4) Too little sleep
(5) Too much food
(6) Too much sitting in front of a flickering tv or monitor
(7) Too much salt (water retention, eye bags)

(It may sound banal, but food isn't ever
ything.)
