First of all, I would like to thank everyone that sent suggestions for
Dallas/Fort Worth.
I would like to add two more suggestions that I successfully ate at while in
Irving this past week! I went to The 'Saltgrass Steak House' at 102 State Hwy.
114 East in Grapevine one evening for dinner. I did not know if they could
accommodate my GF needs but my coworkers, whom I was traveling with encouraged
me to ask (which I thanked them for the encouragement and support). I spoke
with the Manager on duty, Mike Cass and he was aware of the GF diet and was
extremely helpful! He personally oversaw my meals preparation and continued to
consult with me on every detail. I also returned there another day for lunch and
different manager was on duty, Bill Chmielewski. He was not as familiar with my
needs but listened to me as I explained it and he also took extra steps to
make sure my meal was prepared properly. Cudos to both of these gentlemen and to
the Saltgrass. I cannot speak for the other locations in the Dallas area, but
this particular location was very helpful.
The second place I went for dinner was 'Cantina Laredo' at 4546 Belt Line
Road, Addison, Texas. I had called the other 'Cantina Laredo' earlier in the day
to ask the manager if they could assist me in a GF meal. The manager there was
very helpful I had thought that was the one we were going to, but when we
arrived, I quickly realized we had gone to a different one. Eduardo Garcia was
the manager on duty at this place and at first he did not understand what I
needed. I quickly explained it to him and he went to call the manager at the other
restaurant, whose name is Chris Morgan. He apparently was not able to speak
to him, but got more info from me did some quick research and was also very
accomodating. He came back several times and consulted with me regarding
ingredients in sauces and other dishes. He prepared me a wonderful GF meal and I
survived the entire trip without getting poisoned once! So the 'Cantina Laredo' I
ate at and the one I called both appear to be excellent choices for Celiacs!
Cudos to the Dallas area. I was treated very well (and I am even Broncos fan
and was wearing my Broncos jacket) Ü --- I enjoyed my trip (for a business
trip) and look forward to the opportunity to visit Dallas/Fort Worth again!
Steve
