Here is the summary on cracked lips................Thanks to all of you that
responded. I no longer wear lipstick and my lips are better. I am using
Aquaphor and they are better.
Sjogren's Syndrome seems to be a common thread in many that have excessively
cracked lips.
Gluten Free lipsticks are Neutrogena, Clariol, Mary Kay, BeautiControl,
Blistex, Bonnie Bell, some of Clinique, softlips, Bobbi Brown, MAC - just
to name a few
A healing ointment that you can use daily on your lips, that my doctor
recommended is: AQUAPHOR. You can use this under your lip stick and at
other times. It can
be bought over the counter at any pharmacy.
homeopathic remedy,CALENDULA OINTMENT. Calendula is one of the oldest
meds.....based on marigolds, it soothes and heals and stays on.
Vaseline, Lip Rescue from Desert Essence, cod live oil capsules -- the
DHA/EPA, Vit D, Chapstick, taking oils, fish oils, and digestive enzymes and
vitamin E. Of course, cracking at the corners it B complex deficiency,
Borage seems the best, followed by evening primrose and then flax oil. It
does not seem related to the weather or our hydration levels, though you
certainly want to ensure that your lip products are gf as well.
Drink more water! Cracked lips are a sign of dehydration. Drink LOTS more
water. Take your body weight and divide by 2. That is how many ounces of
water they
suggest you drink. Other liquids do not replace water.
This is slightly off topic but you could try making your own lip balm. I
have made a nice one with 1/2 tsp beeswax, 1 tsp cocoa butter and 1
tsp almond oil. It is simple, just melt them all together in a
double-boiler, pour into a small container and let harden.
I had a problem with the same kind of thing until I started taking vitamin
shots. Then I found out I had a problem absorbing vitamins
(I was taking mega doses). They started giving me vitamin shots (mostly the
B vitamins), and the problem cleared up overnight! Evidently the
malabsorption prevented me from getting what my body needed to heal.
Jackie put together a summary last May. It is too large for me to post. If
anyone wants a copy of it e-mail that request & I can send it. Thanks,
Jackie in AZ.
