Printer problem in Win2000 Pro

I recently installed Win 2000 Pro on my computer.
I have one usb printer and one printer on a parallel port(LPT1).
The usb printer works fine from any account but the parallel printer only
works from the administrator account.
When logged in as a user(not administrator) I can see print documents appear
in the print queue,
but then they disappear without going to the printer.
The printer in question is a Canon BJC6000.
What could I have set wrong that would cause this problem ?
