Phil,
I understand perfectly what you are talking about.  I have had that same
experience.  It astounded me!  It broke my heart because it was wife, in
court, during a divorce and custody hearing!  By the grace of God and the
insistance of my attorney, I didn't say a thing.  I wanted to strangle her
and carried that with me for a very long time.  The Lord taught me many
things during that trial.  No punn intended.
