Actually most Christians tend to gloss over the details of the crucifixion.
I use to have info on the details of all Christ went through and it is
unimaginable the details like getting beat with a club like a baseball bat,
bent over and whipped as you say Paul, crown of thorns driven into his
skull and etc. We, as sighted people saw a clean, unbruised, un bled, Jesus
hanging with white cloth covering the mid area, quite a different image
than what actually occurred. There is no mention of the physical suffering
that goes on such as suffocation due to the positioning of the person on
the cross and etc.
