The accessibility of Ebooks independently from the reader issue, will think depend from book to book: The free Ebooks I found were text, I think because they also existed as word Documents, but it may be true that the newer ones won't be accessible.
But well, I'm pretty sure this application will still prove useful in many cases.

It is often the case that it takes more than making a reader like this
accessible in order to allow the content to be read sadly. It might
actually mean that ocr needs to be performed on the content since many of
them are designed to look and act like paper.

I'm trying to get the developpers of Talks, the screen reader for
Cellphones, to adapt the Mobipocket application developped for Series 60, to
work with Talks. He told me it could be done if enough users showed an
interest for this application. It would allow us to read the E-books in
Mobipocket format on our cellphones. I'm very interested in it because that
would be yet another thing you wouldn't need an extra device to carry along.
Also, the phone has its own charger so no need to use AA batteries.
Many Mobipocket Ebooks are free of charge and the Mobipocket application is
also free, I think.
So, if you wish to see this application adapted to work with Talks, please
send me a msg stating so with your name, and I will transmit all the
messages to Torsten Brandt, the developper of Talks. My company distributes
Talks in Belgium, so I'm regularly in touch with him.
