If you are using a newer version of Windows, there is a build in screen
magnifier already there.  Just go to: START, then Programs, then Accessories
and then Accessibility.  Click on Magnifier and you've got it.  Then you can
drag the edges to what ever size magnifier you want.  You can also change
the size of the text from 2X to 9X.  There is also a Narrator that will read
the screen.
