Dear Listfriends:
I had a first experience with an event involving Kosher catering. I am in the habit of bringing my own food (which I try to color coordinate with the regular menu) to institutional functions, and had cleared this with the hostess of a recent luncheon. The caterer informed me that according to the rules no outside food is permitted at Kosher events, because even though it was food that would not offended basic Kosher sensibilities, it would have to have been prepared in a kitchen approved by the Rabbinical Board of _____County. Therefore, at no matter what inconvenience to them, they would bend over backwards to assure me a safe meal. They did that; it was wonderful and best of all, I did not get sick.
