I received twenty-seven replies and some real good advice to pass on to my brother. Thank you so much for all the detailed information about your personal experience with food allergies and other suggestions offered.

Most of the replies suggested that my brother arrange to be tested as soon as possible because of the genetic factor. A few thought that his reactions to foods could be the result of something else and may not be celiac....other mentions ie., carcinoid syndrome, mastocytosis, or have his blood sugar checked. Two suggested that he should carry with him an epi-pen at all times as there could be a risk of anaphalactic shock.
Incidentally, he does carry an epi-pen. A good number of you said that an allergy Doctor is not the person to ask about celiac.......see good gastroenterlogist. One suggested going to another site for additional help. Five indicated they had had similar problems before being diagnosed with CD. That about sums it up.......Thanks again to all of you. Appreciate the help.

-------------------------Following is my original post------------------------------------

We are two in a family of eight who are celiac, diagnosed at age 52 and =
56 years. A third brother aged 62 years has developed serious reactions =
to different foods over the past three weeks. When he has an allergy =
attack his face becomes flushed and he feels a heat sensation going to =
his head. The first attack occurred while he was eating an orange and =
brazilian nuts, the second while eating pecan nuts, the third while =
eating an orange and apple, the fourth while eating a soup and muffin =
and the fifth while having a coffee. Until his recent bout of allergies =
he appeared to be otherwise in good health except for the occasional =
migraine headache. He saw an allergy doctor to-day and asked him if =
there could be a possibility of celiac disease and the doctor said no.=20

I am wondering if any of you on this list have experienced similar =
re-actions to foods and later discovered that you were celiac. I'm =
trying to help him out as his reactions are quite severe. Thankste for help. A few said they had similar symptoms and were later diagnosed with CD.
