Kathy, a friend of mine can do none of those things either, but he's
living on his own with a lot of assistive devices...  This is the 21st
century, not the 19th...  I would recommend you and yours watch the
documentary Gary told us about...

My dad said in order to live independently you have to be able to talk,
walk, or feed yourself and I can't do any.

I can get in and out of my wheelchair, and I can feed myself, though I
need
somebody to cut my food.  and I talk ok, not great, but i can
communicate.
But regardless, each of us is different, and please don't compare
