When humans were bright enough to realise the value of watching what other
beings did they already knew what was edible and what was not. They were not
idiots.

We have very little empirical evidence of what patelithic people did during
those 300.000 or more generations when our particular set up og genes were
formed. Personally I guess that people hunted the animals that were the
easiest to catch and the easiest to eat. That would be the young ones and
they would have whey in the stomach and that would be shared and eaten by
those that took part in the hunting. Thus cheese would have come into the
diet at an early stage.
