Sometimes the hardest thing in the world is to go against the wishes of a
loved one, especially when it is your parents.  If you can, go see your
Mother anyways.  I agree, there must be something going on and you need to
find a way to assess it.  Do they have friends or other relatives you get on
your side to help you?
Here in Florida, if you think someone might be a danger to themselves or
others, you can Baker Act them for 72 hours.  They are basically sent to the
public mental health ward for observation.  In this area either the local ER
does the job or they send to police out for you (I got a really funny story
about that one).  That's rather drastic however, depends on how comfortable
and how well you feel like forcing your mother to some type of treatment.
Even getting her to an ER or getting an ambulance to the house for some
medical attention.
It's not easy raising your parents, I hope for the best for you.

   I have not spoken to my mother since father day. Evidently, my mom =
got very sick shortly after that. She has told Papa we are not to visit =
- she will not talk to us, and we are not allowed to know what's wrong - =
its personal. All I can get out of my Dad is she refuses to see anyone, =
talk  to anyone - which includes him part of the time - wants us to =
remember her as she was, she is also refusing to get medical care.  Does =
anyone have any idea what can be done to help him? Can I force medical =
care on her? Should I abide by her wishes? She has always been about =
pride and appearences. Ideas?
