Hi Brent,
My telescoping 2 meter antenna has a flexable section at the base
which absorbs shock very well. It is only about 6 inches long when
colapsed. I don't think it is any more a danger to my F6A than the longer
antenna that came with it. I haven't yet used it in a shortened mode on
the higher bands as I have only been active on 2 meters.
