I haven't used it since they were joined up with ebay, but when they were
independent form them, I had enough problems that we almost went to court
over it and I'll never use them again, fees that I didn't know about, they
were asking for info they have no right asking for, and after I got rid of
them and closed out my account, they didn't send me all my money and some
idiot on ebay didn't read that I said in the add not to use paypal, he paid
that way anyway and they took his money, told me if I wanted it I'd have to
sign back up, never told him though I had to tell him and let them fight it
out. I guess under the new ownership they're a little better but the day I
give anyone my bank account number on the internet will be the day I get
another account, I don't trust that at all. Maybe it's because I don't
trust anyone but it only takes 1 good hacker out there and look out. I once
went back but they didn't let me spend anything but they did let my mother
with her account registered the same day so I dumped them again for the last
time. All I can say from my experience is be very careful.

| I like PayPal although I don't use it that often. Once one has allowed
| one's bank account to be verified, I have found no hidden fees although
| I have heard a few complaints (Anthony Vese was one of the complainers)
| that a fee was deducted from what they received as my payment. But this
| was before I had my bank account info verified (PayPal will accept
| initial payments with a credit card but gives one many incentives to set
| things up so that direct withdrawals from one's checking account can be
| made for subsequent payments with the credit card as a secondary source
| of funds). My only initial gripe was that a $5.00 handling fee was
| charged me of which I was unaware although it might have been in the
| fine print. Since I allow direct withdrawal from my checking account,
| though, there are no fees on my end. So I like it.
|
| The only other caveat is that to get a way to read those graphical
| letters PayPal uses for initial verification when you apply, you must
| click on the help link and then you'll find a link to a somewhat garbled
| version of a sound file giving the letters. The distortion is
| deliberate. You are allowed many tries, though, so you'll eventually
| enter things correctly.
|
| As I say, I like PayPal.
