Another one I've heard is that way back when there was a magazine called
Home  Amateur Mechanics which one month  featured a homebrew radio project.
The radios became known as H. A. M. radios.    Sounds a little too cute, but
who knows the truth after all these years.

The story about the 3 guys with the last names beginning with H A and M was
entered into the congressional record some years ago by  some long winded
congressman.  I believe that one as much as I believe the rest of the stuff
that comes out of congress.
