Hi, Guys,
Regarding that double-extension attachment file, most likely virus, that was
sent to the list on October 4, and alleged to be from somebody named, Jody,
the list administrator/owner can do one thing to guarantee that the list
won't get any of these types of messages. He must change the settings on
this text-only list so that it will either strip out all attachments from
messages before they get distributed to the list, or have it simply reject
all attachment-containing posts. That way, each individual message won't
have to be monitored for that particular problem.

Of course, doing that is going to mean that some of you guys are going to
have to pay attention to your own email program settings so that you don't
do things like send a duplicate copy of your posts in HTML format which is
attached to the end of the text message, or use the MicroSoft lazy way of
emailing by simply composing your message in MS Word and telling it to
email, which simply attaches your text to a blank message instead of cutting
and pasting the text directly into the message body. And, of course, for
those few who might be into those funky "electronic business cards" and
lines of "geek code," most of which are also attachments, if the list strips
attachments, or rejects messages with attachments, you won't be able to show
those things off to the list.

Did your computer have a virus, or was it just running Windows?
