Hi Ilene:
Getting the logon screen to disappear is fairly simple to get rid of. Why it showed up is one of those computer mysteries.
There is a utility available from Microsoft.com called powertoys or rather tweak UI.
Just do a search on the microsoft web page. At any rate, this utility will give you the power to bypass the Windows Logon screen among many other neat things.
