Hi, Scot,
I recently had the battery pack in an Optacon R1C replaced at Batteries Plus
in Sandy Springs, GA. The unit and the battery pack did not phase the guy
one little bit. Not only did I get new batteries, but I got ones with a
higher MAH (MilliAmp/Hour) rating than the original batteries, or the ones
that had been replaced by TeleSensory back in 1979. So, this means that the
unit will now run about 50 percent longer on a charge than it did with the
older batteries.
Go ahead, take it right into Batteries Plus. There is also a company called
Battery USA that is similar to Batteries Plus, and in Canada, there is
Batteries Canada. If all you need is a new battery pack, these places can
handle that with no prob whatsoever, and it won't cost you a huge wad of
money, either.
