The Maryland Department of Disabilities (MDOD) is seeking applicants for
the position of Executive Director to manage all areas of services and
operations for the statewide Maryland Technology and Assistance Program.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of all of
the programs services including device demonstration, device loan, state
financing, device re-use, information, training and technical
assistance, and public awareness activities. This individual will
convene an Advisory Council to develop and review progress on the
statewide assistive technology plan and direct all required reporting
and data collection mandated by the Rehabilitation Services
Administration. The Director will provide leadership, training, and
guidance to program staff. The State of Maryland offers a generous

The Following are essential functions of this position (not all
inclusive):
* Directs the activities, projects, and services of the
statewide Maryland Assistive Technology Program;
* Manages and plans the work of four full-time and three
part-time program staff;
* Coordinates with agencies in other areas of the state to
provide or expand assistive technology services;
* Convenes an Advisory Council of key stakeholders to help
develop and review progress on a statewide plan for assistive
technology;
* Directs all required data collection and reporting, including
the State Plan for Disability Services, and Managing for Results;
* Develops new programs, services, and partnerships to expand
assistive technology services;
* Designs and revises program budgets and oversees fiscal
activities;
* Secures additional funding and collaboration to expand and
sustain services;
* Improves and expands marketing strategies to increase
awareness and use of program services;
* Coordinates efforts with all other programs and activities of
the Maryland Department of Disabilities.
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
* Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year
college or university (or equivalent).
* Requires significant professional experience working with
directly or indirectly with individuals with disabilities.
* Must have prior supervisory experience.
Candidate Profile:
* Extensive knowledge of assistive technology.
* Demonstrated experience and success initiating and
implementing creative solutions to accomplish program goals.
* Demonstrated success creating partnerships with other entities
to expand programs.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills with all
levels of internal and external customers.
* Development experience highly desirable.
* Travel throughout the state required (state vehicle not
available).
* Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and
Access).
