Kylix and All,

My Paleo eating philosophy is this: When presented with contradictory and/or
illogical dietary advice, I draw my own conclusions based on what *I* think is
closest to what our Paleo ancestors might have done. This is similar to Ray
Audette's rule of *Eating what you could eat if you were naked with a sharp
stick.*

So, stop and think- where is it that red meat is linked with colon cancer?
Was a study done comparing 2 groups of very similar people, both eating a Paleo
type diet, with the ONLY variable being that one group ate red meat, and the
other, only fish and/or poultry? No, I hardly think so. Even in animals, I
doubt any such study has ever been done. And if it has, were the animals eating a
Species Appropriate Diet?

Conclusions have quite likely been drawn from epidemiological (population)
studies, and you can be quite sure that both the meat eating and non-meating
eating groups were also consuming plenty of grains, sugar, dairy, and who knows
what kinds of manufactured poisons that pass for food today. And how about
Native Eskimo, Massai, and other populations that are heavy meat eaters- are they
known for high rates of colon cancer? I doubt it.

One final thought- a study was done which examined all persons involved in
automobile accidents, and it was discovered that 99.9% of them were wearing
shoes. Therefore, it is logical to conclude that anyone driving a car while
wearing shoes is quite likely to get into an accident!

So, do I have a definitive answer to your question? No, but if you'll excuse
me, I've got to go get my steak and broccoli off the grill now.

Hi, I've read that red meat is linked with colon cancer.
Is this true, are paleo dieters at a higher risk?
Should I be concerned?
