Actually, I think there are drugs that will not
necessarily lower insulin but that will lower insulin
resistance, which means that less insulin has to be
released. They're called diguanides and I think the
most well known is metformin (glucophage in the US).
Not that I'm recommending you take it or anything. I
think, though, from my perspective, the problem is
insulin resistance is probably more of a concern than
cholesterol, because there is a lot of contradictory
evidence about cholesterol, whereas I think
hyperinsulemia is pretty much uniformly bad.
