When you asked about advocacy groups, I mentioned one in Rhode Island, www.aini-ri.org, that I wasn't familiar with. You asked if that group had chapters in other states. I didn't know, but I said I'd get in touch with my friend Liz in Rhode Island, and see what she knew about them.
Liz is pretty involved in advocacy work there; especially in the schools as her 10 year old son has a disability. Advocacy groups are things that people who are active in the disability field usually know about, and if someone who's as active as Liz hasn't heard of a group, it probably means the group isn't doing much of anything.
