Bob,
I just bought a pair of boots that my wife says I can even wear for
church! I bought at Sierra Trading Post (www.sierratradingpost.com),
which is an online outlet store with its headquarters showroom about 50
miles from where I live. They have a more extensive style selection
than most I've seen, and I got mine for 50% off retail. I wore the high
top "orthopedic" shoes until the mid 70's when hiking boots first became
popular. I swore, once I found they worked and my orthopod said I
wouldn't damage my knees or ankles, to never wear orthopedic shoes
again!

Subject: Shoes
Looking for a certain type shoe.
I have all of my life worn "high top" (6") shoes.
Althiough sometimes described as "work shoes", they
were finished leather, polished, etc. They were
advertised for garage attendants and police officers.
I bought them through Hanover Shoes (in the 60s &
70s) & from Sears mail-order in the 1980s & early 90s.
For several years I have looked in vain.
I just finished Google searches for Hanover Shoe
Store, & the only sites I find give discontinued phone
numbers.
The closest I can come is the 8" police "combat boot"
{which looks & feels like a boot!)
Any suggestions?
BOB
