When the machine was upgraded to ME, there was an option of saving the
previous version files in case you wanted to revert the OS. If that option
was used them it is very simple to restore the system to the previous
operating system. Navigate to the Add and Remove Programs utility in control
panel and select to uninstall Windows ME. If the option to save the previous
installation was not selected, you won't see an option to uninstall Windows
ME. One additional option would be to back up all your data files and make
sure that you have all your registration numbers and serial numbers for all
installed software and simply do a reformat and start from scratch. If you
have original "Restore" CDs that came with the computer, they will have all
the drivers on them, as well as all original installed applications. If you
don't have the original "Restore" CDs, you should be able to pick up a copy
of Windows 98 very cheaply on E-Bay or at a local computer shop.
