I need help with this one. Windows XP Pro. Installed some new toys I got at
Staples - a USB scanner and a DVD burner. All seemed to go well, but I
decided to clean up old drivers and stuff. After that, MS Word gave me a
message that the digital signatures to my macros were no longer valid...
Looking at the certificate console (through mmc) I found that there were two
certificates issued in my name. I deleted the one that seemed incorrect, and
tried to set my macros to be signed by the remaining certificate. Did not
work. Deleted the remaining certificate and tried to re-issue a new one -
but I get the message "The wizard cannot be started because it failed to
contact the active directory." Searching the net for info only came up with
a reference to a corrupted policy file. Incidentally, I am looking at the
Certificates for Current User. Trying the Local Machine did not seem to
allow me to do anything. HELP!!!
Thanks for any input and experience you may have. I already went through the
XP reinstall/repair process with not difference in results.
