Lumens are a measurement of light intensity or volume (which may or may not be
synonymous)
The higher the number of lumens, the brighter the projected image(s). Generally
speaking you
want the highest possible number of lumens for the buck, especially if you don't
necessarily
want to completely darken the room in an instructional setting. Keep in mind (and
you may want to
research this aspect before acquiring ANY such projectors) that replacement lamps can
be
extremely expensive--up to hundreds of dollars apiece. Check into availability, as
well.

>

While I may be wrong, whenever lumens are measured, I believe ANSI lumens are what is
being referred to.

> 3. Most projectors are listed as SVGA, but a few are XGA. I assume XGA is a more
advanced offering, but what is the difference, if any?
>

The difference is that XGA allows for higher resolution. I believe SVGA refers to
640 X 480 X 256 colors.
XGA will allow 800 X 600 X >256 colors. This can be important if image quality or
detail is critical (or even
viewing more cells in a spreadsheet--sure to fascinate any school audience <G>).
