Sorry Dedy!
Didn't check out your post carefully enough. I agree with you in general, and adressed this line of reasoning in my post "What is paleo?" (even had the impertinence of calling it all bogus). However, modern man (Homo sapiens sapiens, the "we" of the posts to this list) originated in east and central Africa and you and I should thus (according to theory) be better adapted to tropical fruit than say I, in my northern European case (don't know where you got your "more recent" genes from), would be to gooseberries, cloudberries and redcurrants. However, as opposed to New world nightshades (and even Old world ones contain potential allergens when they're not downright deadly) these berries do not seem to cause any problems to people in general. The fact that I seem to thrive on tomatoes and bell peppers detracts nothing from that.

recently, some people on the list have express 'worries' that we shouldn't eat 'new world' produce as in tomatoes, peppers, avocados, chillies etc. because *we* [who's that?] haven't had enough evolutionary time to adapt to those.... by the same token hardly any of us not indigenous to the tropics should eat coconut and it's products, palm oil, tropical fruits etc.... no one but some Chinese people should eat citrus fruit or many other fruits commonly now grown all over the world which originated in china... similar restrictions would be placed on kiwi fruits....
