I use a product called Scotchfill made by 3M. The last roll I bought came
from Home Depot's electrical department. It is a high voltage insulating
tape that will stick to it's self. It takes a piece about 1 inch long to do
a connector. The tape is thick so you stretch it out till it is thin then
wrap the connector. I then wrap the connector with a PVC tape to protect the
Scotchfill from the sun's UV rays. I have used this method for many years
and have cut the Scotchfill off silver connectors when changing beams and
the connector would still be bright. A roll will do a lot of connectors.

Steve, I've found that teflon tape doesn't work very well, especially for
outdoor use.
