Biopsy-diagnosed Celiac on strict g/f diet for 15 years with a question:
After years of chronic sinus infections - apparently resistant to oral
antibiotics - and several sinus surgeries, a culture last week revealed the presence
of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, and my ENT is referring me to an infectious
disease M.D. From what I can learn on the internet, people with weak immune systems
are suseptible. I'm awaiting the second of two immune system tests, the
first of which was in the normal range. The second required a Pneumovax and
Tetanus/Diptheria vaccination and 30-day waiting period before the second blood
draw which I had Monday.
Have any Celiacs experienced this bacterial infection affecting the
respiratory system? Are our immune systems weakened even after years adhering to a
gluten-free diet?
Thanks for any information -- I'll summarize.
Margaret in Naples, Florida
