I rec'd 35 replies re. what size mixer is best for GF flours, etc. Overwhelming (25) response that the 325 watt, tilit head Artisan Kitchen Aide is great. I luckily found it at a 5 hour Foley's sale for $199. It is now back on 'sale' for $249 for the rest of the week.
3 responses said a refurbished older model would be every bit as good. 4 said they use the 4 1/2 qt. 300 watt for several years w/ no probs. 3 said they reccomended buying the 6 qt. 500 watt. for larger batches and possibly a longer lasting motor - those are on sale right now for $369. But the losck of tilt head on the mixer was listed as a downside by several of the pro-325 respoonses.
Most responses said using a stronger stand mixer was definitely worth it!!!
I laughed out loud at the response that said he viewed his Kitchen-Aid as a "power tool... and you know men and their power toools...".
One last helpful suggestion was buying the grain mill attachment to the K.A. stand mixer and making your own GF flour - maybe for Valentine's Day. Happy Holidays. Pat
