After sending out the email for whether Chlorine was a 'problem' for Celiacs/Sprue/DH,,,,,these are the responses I got. I did NOT have any problem,,,,but that was last Friday. I go Mon/Wed/Fri/ of this week. The physical therapy was incredible,,,and in very 'whirlpool temperature' water!

Thanks again for all the responses!
Diane

I have DH and it hasn't affected me.

Chlorine can be a trigger for some people with DH. But not necessarily,
every person is different. If you have been on a strict GF diet for a long
time and your DH has subsided, it's much less likely to trigger a severe
reaction because the antibodies under your skin have also subsided.

Pure chlorine is a chemical so I don't see why there would be a problem...unless it is mixed with something but even then I doubt it would be mixed with anything that had gluten.

I have Dh too, chlorine is GF

Hi Diane. I'm sure that the amounts of fluoride or chlorine used in the pool would have to conform to regulations, so I can't see a problem there. Any gluten molecule, if present at all, is too large to be absorbed by the skin, (it is written up in various places on the web) so no problem there either.
Rest easy and enjoy your therapy.

too much chlorine can shut down your thyroid..
