Hello:
The purpose of the EASI list is to share information related to info tech
and disability access with a heavy emphasis on education. We also have
found that the fewer rules we make for our users the better. "Some like it
cold and some like it hot!" We all have different needs and preferences,
and we try to let the list run as free from our interference as possible.
We find that our users in the last few years have all acted as mature and
thoughtful adults mostly staying on or near our topic and keeping flaming
and personalized attacks to a minimum. I personally thank everyone for
this. It makes my life a lot simpler.
As for attachments, I too have a strong tendancy to distrust them even when
I know the sender because viruses frequently use even a friend's mail
system to send out viruses without my friend's knowledge. I never open
attachments unless the mail body is specific about sending something
specific of interest to me and the sender. I usually expect the file name
to have a title reflecting that specific topic and must be a text or doc
file. Otherwise, it is deleted.
Nevertheless, sometimes an attachment is the method that works best for
large documents especially where you want to preserve the formatting. Not
everyone has the capability to put that on the web or the time.
As moderator I again want to thank everyone for their mature use of this
list even though we may still have legitimate differences and preferences.
