Section 508 regs and the Web
The long-awaited regs for section 508 have been published. EASI wants to
alert you to 3 opportunities to learn more about these.
First, EASI's audio webcast from Dec. 21 interviewed Doug Wakefield, the
author of the regs about their implications for the web. This 30 min
broadcast is on easi's home page and in a few days will be moved to the
webcast archives for long term availability. You can hear it from the
author's mouth. EASI will shortly have a second interview with Doug about
the impact of these 508 regs and on-site information technologies.
The other two opportunities are two EASI online workshops which will
include information on section 508. Beginners Barrier-free Web Design
begins January 8 and still has limited space available for registrations.
It will now include 508 information. No HTML knowledge is required for
this basic workshop.
EASI will be providing an advanced Accessible web design workshop starting in
February which will also include 508-related information. This workshop
will assume that participants have some knowledge of HTML, and it will deal
with more complex issues of media, scripts etc. Links to the
workshops is also accessible from EASI's home page at:
