Hi everyone,
We are still fairly new to this diet and I was just wondering about ice
cream. Is this an item that I always need to check or can we go to the
local ice cream shop to get ice cream? I have bought and few store brands
and called about them and they have been GF. I haven't ran into a problem
with ice cream yet besides the obvious ones with cookies/candies in them or
ice cream sandwiches. I know there is always the issue of cross
contaimination at an ice cream store, but other than that is this a product
that always needs to be questioned?
The one ingredient that I do come across in most brands of ice cream is mono
& diglycerides. I read once that mono and diglycerides were fine when they
were not in the dry form. Does anyone know if this is true and why? Any
product that I have questioned due to mono & diglycerides has always turned
out fine to eat. Are mono & diglycerides truely an item that I should be
concerned about?
Thanks for your help,
Valerie Thayer
