Hi to all.

Well, I read this message second, though it was written earlier. I am not
sure of the answer to the first question--I upgraded to Windows Media 10 a
couple of months back, but I've never had a problem with the CD store
appearing in the main window. It is available under the "View" heading, and
I am sure there is a toggle switch in either the View or Tools menu that
will remove this from the main screen.

Your second problem was one I had when I first downloaded Winamp.
Apparently, the player's default mode is to take all formats from other
players that it can play and make Winamp the default format. To correct
this, you will need to do the following each time after you have downloaded
and installed the Winamp software (this includes upgrades):

1. Enter your Winamp player.
2. Press CTRL+p to bring up the Preferences menu. Your cursor should be
sitting on the "File Types" option.
3. Tab to "Restore File Associations At Start Up" and uncheck that box.
4. Tab to "Make Winamp The Default Player for All Associated File Types" (I
hope I remembered that one correctly) and uncheck that box.
5. Tab to "OK,", press the enter key and then press ALT+F4 to exit Winamp.
7. Open your Windows Media player.
8. From the Tools menu (ALT+T), arrow up or down to "Options" and press the
"Enter" key.
9. Using "Shift+Tab" then the right arrow keys, go to File Types".
10. Tab to the "Select All" button and press the spacebar. Then tab to
"Apply" and press the spacebar again. Finally press "Shift+Tab" and press
the spacebar on the OK button.

This restores all of the Windows Media formats (including MPEG and MP3) to
Windows Media player. If you want to restore any files back to Winamp (such
the two I just mentioned which I did), all you have to do is go in the
Windows Media File Types list, uncheck those file types, press OK, and
enter. Alternatively, you could also do this through the Winamp player, but
since Winamp has some 62 formats (that's what is in the Bundled version) and
Windows Media player only has 13, it is probably easier to properly these
changes through the Windows Media player (there are 4 different MP3 file
types in Winamp, all associated with the single MP3 type in Windows Media
player).

I know this has been long-winded, but I hope it helps.

To all, take care.

Ted Chittenden
