Hi Michael and listers,

I have been using Hal for Windows at work, and Jaws at home for the last 18 months. I think the version 6.53 from Hal does a better job in Word and Excel than Jaws. But I must admit, this is a subjective impression because I haven't systematically compared them. On the Internet, they are now almost equal as well although I think Jaws is still a bit better (for copying part of a page, for instance). But Hal is definitely cheaper than Jaws in Europe.
As far as popularity is concerned, in Europe I think it really depends from country to country. In Belgium I would say Jaws is the most famous screen reader but Hal and SuperNova are gaining. We don't hear much about GWMicro here although it is distributed in France.
Hope that helps,

Good day to everyone.
Séverine
