Well Harry, I don't know anything about your first question, but I sure
would like to have the answers you receive. I've just recently had my new
lap top configured to access our network through wireless, but don't yet
know what to do in order to use it.

As for the second part of your note, I did succeed in using my cell phone to
access e-mail and the web for a time. I had a Motorola cell phone and was
able to purchase the patch cord that would allow me to connect it to the USB
port on the lap top. I think that I was using Windows '98 at the time and
that the necessary software was provided along with the patch cord I bought
for about $80 Cdn.

Now, once you manage to get this done you'll notice that your surfing will
be done at about 14,400, nowhere near high speed. I only used it for e-mail
as web pages are far too large to do efficiently.

Good luck.

Thx, Albert

Subject: going where not many blind computer folks have gone before,
wireless, and I'm gr

Hi all,
Well, the subject says it the way it is.
Folks, I'm using a Dell laptop, and I want to install the wireless card and
then the CD.
Then I want to make it so when I turn on the pc, that it will automatically
tell me if I'm connected to a wifi hot spot or not.
I heard I can do this, is this true?
I'm using jfw 4.5.
So, if any of you brave souls out there have done this, can you walk this
green guy through the process step by step?
That's my first thing.
Now, here's the second situation. I'm going up north to Gaylord, Mi. and I
have a friend who uses Nextel for his cell phone provider.
Now, I heard that folks with a laptop can surf the web over a cell phone
with a laptop connected through the cell phone. Have any of you ever done
this before? If you have, can you walk me step by step through that
process?
Anyway folks, thanks for whatever help you can give.
Harry, who is going into waters I've never gone into before
