Another solution which works even better is to purchase System Access. It
works a lot like JAWS, and if you get the U3 smart drive, or even just the
CD based passkey, you can start up virtually any computer, and it will talk
well. In fact, that's how I am working right now. My JAWS 9.0 home machine
is unavailable, so I plugged in SA smart drive to my son's gaming computer,
and vwalah, it is now talking. It's automatic. It also has a nice extra
for no extra cost. You can run your work computer from home by just
selecting it from the SA menu. My son's computer doesn't have Outlook, nor
anything else I need, so I got it talking, logged into my work computer, and
am writing this using Outlook on my work machine which is 30 miles away.
Pretty cool I think. SA is comparatively cheap. $300. If you use the CD
based passkey option, there is no extra charge. If you want the U3 smart
drive, it costs another $100. Just a cheap as a dongle, but works better
with less hassle. Video drivers are not an issue with SA.

Hi Harry,
You can get a older version of JAWS which will run from a pen drive, though
you will have to install the video intercept. You can get this from the
JAWS download page at the Freedom Scientific web site.
You can also get a dongle for JAWS which will let you run later versions.
You'll have to contact your dealer or FS for a price though.
George.

Subject: [VICUG-L] how can I put jaws on other computers?
Hi all,
Harry here.
I use jaws 9.0 on my windows xp home edition laptop computer.
Here's the issue though. I work on other peoples computers out in the
field, and of course, they don't have jaws on their systems.
Sometimes, it's sighted folks machines, sometimes, it's blind folks
machines.
Do I have to use a dongle, or, can I put jaws on my USB thumb drive, (also
called flash drive)?
Let me know, ok?
Harry
