I have a home network setup with a Win98 system and a WinXP system
connected to the cable modem through a Linksys BEFSX41 router. I set this
up about a month age with no problems. However now I cannot access the
router setup page (http://192.168.1.1) from the WinXP system. I can ping
192.168.1.1 and IPCONFIG shows the default gateway OK but when I try to
access the setup page from the browser I get a red warning screen >

"401 Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access. Either you
supplied the wrong credentials(e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't
understand how to supply the credentials required."

What credentials is the router looking for? This is before I get to the
setup screen. I have no idea what may have changed since to original setup
about four weeks ago and the Win98 system can access the setup page. Both
system are running IE6.

Any help will be appreciated.
