EASI Webcast: ELECTRONIC TEXTBOOKS FOR ON-CAMPUS AND OFF-CAMPUS LEARNING
http://www.rit.edu/~easi
(Text transcription is available for the Deaf.)
This presentation was given at the CSUN conference on technology and people
with disabilities in March. The webcast is an hour long but is divided in
three sections:
Part one: Introduction and Overview of the Law - Steve Noble from RFB&D,
Part two: Problems and Solutions - Jeff Senge, Cal State Fullerton,
Part three: Bookshare.org - Alison Lingane
Progress is real, but progress is slow. A decade ago, many of us were
eagerly looking for the day that text books would all be readily available
in alternative formats. We never imagined it would take this long. We are
now seeing some real progress, but there is still some distance to go
before our dreams are fulfilled. This presentation tels of some of this
progresss and points to what still needs to be done both for students
taking traditional courses and those studying at a distance.
