Greetings,
This Dell Dimension (Celeron 700) is slower than a P166. I can't figure out why. Configuration is:
Windows 2000,
64mb RAM and the usual peripherals(cdrom, hdd, fdd, sound, nic).
Have tried Windows 98, ME.
Have tried increasing RAM to 128mb.
Have tried removing sound, lan - the rest are on board.
HDD is 20gig @ 7200rpm.
No irq conflicts at all.
HDD has plenty of space (and swap space).
I have tried disabling/ enabling various "cache" types via bios, but I am not savy on cache.
Basically machine crawls. What can I check for? alter?
Thanks,
Dharam Bhardwaj
