If the computer is a branded unit (Dell, Gateway, etc), go to the vendor's
web site and look for the latest bios upgrade. If the PC is a home built
unit, then go to the motherboard manufacture's web site. Most of the new
systems (1998 to present) use Flash BIOS. The vendor or the motherboard
maker will have a "Flash" utility that is used to update your motherboard's
bios.
I would check into the other suggestions before going to the trouble of
flashing the bios. The 2 GB ceiling on the C: partition, as someone else
suggested, sounds like a FAT16 (file allocation table) problem. The
DriveSpace suggestion is also a possibility. In any event, rule out all the
simple problems/solutions before you move on to the more complex ones. Keep
a written log of your troubleshooting activities.

Further to my question, do I have to update the bios?
How?
