I want to thank everyone who replied to my long message. I think
that I have learned quite a bit about how complex this situation
is. As far a draining the nodule goes, it seems to have pretty
ineffective especially this last time. Liz said that it was much
less painfully done by the younger endo (but the next few days it
became very painful and swollen and they told her they probably
had hit a nerve). Liz says she feels like there is an obstruction
in her throat all the time. She has not had much energy for about
a year, altho she manages almost a 4 point grade average and 2 jobs.
I don't know how she does it!
My big concern is whether or not we are rushing into this surgery.
Liz has not had any blood work done for at least 6 months of any
kind. As far as I remember, once the TSH was low normal, they
never tested for autoimmune antibodies. Also, the surgeon at the
clinic was not going to do any kind of preop testing of blood,
heart, lungs, etc. which they certainly made me go thru before
I had an operation a few years ago.
Have any of you ever had the nodule hemmorage? One night after
choir practice Liz said that she felt blood in her throat. Not
only that she became extremely agitated, argued with her boyfriend
and was not able to drive. She basically crashed for 24 hours.
That was when we changed to the young endo, who basically said
this has to come out.
