Hi Steve,
Is there a connection between HYPO and MS???
I have HYPO (just dx'd a little over a month ago & doing well on Synthroid). My mother
had MS in which she was dx'd at age 25 when I was only 2 months old. Back then there
were NO treatments for MS & I witnessed the disease throughout my childhood until age 23
when we lost her. I'm now 34 & have always had a fear in the back of my mind of getting
MS.
The VERY strange thing is, the many horrible symptoms I experienced with HYPO were the
same as what she had with MS. So of course, this frightened me until the HYPO was found
and treated...I'm beginning to feel like a new person. I had HYPO symptoms for at least
10 years, but it took this long to find the TSH elevated. (I have been treated for
depression for 6 years & now am almost completely off all meds.) I often wonder if what
my mother suffered was HYPO too...though the MS was dx'd through spinal tap... And if
maybe she had untreated HYPO that went into MS. I guess maybe I think too much.. :)
Thank you for your thoughts,
SuzyQ
