I have also had this type of chest cramp or, as I have always called it,
a "catch" about midway up in my chest. It feels like something is caught
on something and if you take a deep breath or turn the wrong way, it
hurts badly. I too have had this ever since I can remember. I don't
think it could be associated with thyroid problems, unless I have had
them all my life and didn't know it.
