Hi all,
This may be a dumb question but here goes.......
I just returned from a visit to my endocrinologist. I've had Hashimoto's
for many years now so I asked him "How much of my thyroid is left?". He
responded "very little". He indicated that he can barely feel it. He
completed the exam, we discussed my condition, I had my blood work, then left.
When I returned to work, I realized that I should have asked him this question
but it didn't occur to me at the time. When Hashimoto's disease finally
detroys all of my thyroid, do I still have Hashimoto's disease? Of course I
realize that I'll be hypothyroid for the rest of my life and I'll continue
on my medication but I was just wondering if I'll still have this autoimmune
disease even though I'll have no thyroid gland.
Just curious,
Nancy
